Inside The Haven of St Christabel and St Germaines’ the sisterhood of Late Bloomers flourishes, under direction of the triumvirate of Mannie McKenzie (Tracy Bourne), Nursie-Nurse (Caroline Lee) and Matron Rosemma ‘Gassy’ Gascoyne (Wilhemina Stracke – not pictured here.) The women pass their days in creativity, craft, lively games of rounders, aquarobics and song, led by Head Girl Robin Laurie, with assistance from Quire Co-Director, Julie Merritt, and performer Glynis Angell.
Here they have completed their rendition of The Spinsters’ Chorus, adapted after Puccini, by Peta Williams, and Mannie McKenzie announces that she has finished her first work of non-fiction: A Rhyming Dictionary for Dummies.
And the punters said: “Thank you so much for your extraordinary creation…. I loved it so much… congratulations on the enormous wonderfulness of it all…”
