AN EPISTLE TO THE MELBURNIANS
Hear ye, hear ye…Are you a woman who sings? Do you belong to a choir? If not, why not? Perhaps you often consider joining one, but are wary of making a commitment?
Here is an opportunity to try-before-you-buy.
Things That Fall Over, your someday-oneday show with the preposterous and extravagant name, is preparing its beautiful oratorio-as-coda, Swansong!!!The Musical!!! for a public airing or two in Melbourne later this year, under the direction of the fabulous Tracy Bourne.
We are now calling for women of all ages and voices to join us, short term, as part of the specially-prepared Quire that will premiere this sublimely sacred and supremely silly musical afterthought.
Yay, Verily, yay.
What’s an oratorio? What’s it about? What sort of music is it? Does it come in any other colours? All your questions may be answered by email, or at an information session and preliminary sing to take place this coming Sunday 21 July in Footscray.
Short notice? Don’t worry if you can’t attend.
Regular rehearsals – to be held once a week on Tuesday evenings – will begin on 30 July and continue for approximately ten weeks, again in Footscray. Learning your part of the songs will be supported by sound files you can access on your devices (iPods and phones) along the way. How fraffly moderne!
There will be some intensive practices towards the end, of course, but as long as we have a good pool of singers to cover all parts we will not need all of the women all of the time.
You do not need to be able to read music. You do not need to have a trained voice. You do not need to be able to attend all rehearsals.
Curious? Or know someone else who could do with A Good Sing?
Please share this message with your daughters and your mothers, your sisters, your girlfriends, your grandmothers and your aunts.
